Adding Point Loads to the Columns

Next, point loading must be applied to the tops of the columns.  There are six different point loads to apply to different sets of columns, as shown below:

To do this:

1. Open the "Properties | Loading" dialog box.

2. Select the 'Point' tab (load case 1 will automatically be selected for you).

3. Select the column(s) you wish to apply the load to.

4. Deselect the 'X' and 'Y' boxes (this specifies a point load in the global Z direction)

5. Enter the load (in Newtons) for the particular column(s) you will be applying the point load to.  The loads are given below:

Load 1: -137,620 N

Load 2: -275,149 N

Load 3: -309,783 N

Load 4: -619,658 N

Load 5: -172,254 N

Load 6: -344,509 N

6. Click the 'Set' button.  An arrow will appear showing the load that you have applied...as more loads are added, the size of this arrow will change such that the magnitude of each point load will be reflected in the length.

Once all of the point loads have been added, the structure will look similar to the following:
