Adding Slab Loading

The final aspect of the modelling, before analysis takes place, is to specify the loading on the structure.

Firstly, loading must be applied to the slab.

To do this:

1. Open the "Properties | Loading" dialog box.

2. Select the 'Add' tab.  A load case (number '1') will be automatically generated.

3. Change the 'Iteration Limit' from 50 to 300.  The other variables are acceptable for this example.

4. Select the 'Area' tab - this tells Vulcan to add load to the slab.

5. Enter a value for the load in the appropriate box (in this case -0.007N/mm^2, the required fire limit-state loading for the slabs).

5. Using the mouse, select all of the slab elements.

5. Click the 'Set' button.  The loading will appear graphically above the slab:

N.B. By selecting the 'Add Loads' check box you can add loading for other cases in a similar manner to above.
