Lastly, the bases of the columns must be completely fixed in place:
To do this:
1. Alter the view of the structure in the main window so that the bottom of each column can be clearly identified.
2. Open the "Properties | boundary Conditions" dialog box and select the 'Attach' button.
3. Fix the translation and rotation about all the axes by clicking the relevant buttons.
4. Select the nodes at the bottoms of each column using the mouse.
5. Click the 'Apply' button. The nodes will change colour.
N.B. You can check the boundary conditions of any node (and also see those like it) by choosing the 'check' option and selecting a node. Any other nodes with the same boundary conditions will change colour.
