Temperature Curves for the Slab

Next, we must define the temperature growth profile in the slab:

The slab temperature data for this example was determined via experimental data.

To do this:

1. Open the "Properties | Temperature Curves" dialog box.

2. Select the 'Add' tab.  A new curve (curve '6') is automatically generated.  However, for ease of identification, you may wish to separate the slab curve from that of the beams by choosing a non-consecutive number ('7' in this case').

3. In the 'Type' drop-down box, select the 'trom file' option.  Browse for the 'Hot_Slabs.txt' temperature curve and open this.

4. Click the 'Add' button to place the curve on to the database for this example.

5. Select the 'Attach' tab and curve 7 from the drop-down menu.  Choose the 'Attach to slab' option and highlight the slab elements that require protection.

6. Click the 'Attach' button.
